lash extensions

What are lash extensions?

The lash extensions used at Wonder Spa are faux mink and are applied individually to the natural lash, applied with an adhesive that is Petrochemical-free, Latex-free, and Formaldehyde-free.

How are lash extensions different from a lash lift?

A lash lift doesn’t use synthetic lashes, it is the augmentation of your natural lashes. A perming solution is used to lift and curl your lashes, making them appear longer and more shapely. A tint is included to make your lashes darker.

How long do they last?

A full set will last as long as your natural lash cycle, which is anywhere from 4-6 weeks, depending on the individual. Like all hair on the human body, your eyelashes grow in stages and falls out and regrow. We recommend getting a fill anywhere between 2 to 4 weeks

Why do I need fills?

Your natural lashes grow out flipping the extensions, falls out naturally (taking the extension) and regrow. The adhesive breaks down and the lash extensions fall off. Anyone of these can be the cause of you losing your lash extensions. A fill is designed to clean up and tidy the extensions left, remove lashes that are ready to fall out due to the natural growth cycle, remove any weak bond, and fix any obvious gaps between lashes and extensions.

Fills are designed to be a maintenance procedure, not a substitute for regular replacement of a full set.

**Please be advised we do not work over other lash tech's work.**

What is the difference between classic and volume sets?

Classic is one thicker extension to one natural lash. They are excellent for everyday wear. The effect is quite natural, and are not too obvious or too dramatic or distracting. This set work well for someone who has full natural lashes, but wants some length to them. This can also be done one any type of natural lashes.

Volume means there are 3–6 fine lashes to one natural lash, which create what we call a fan. They are fuller than the classic set. The effect is denser, more dramatic, and more noticeable. This offers the subtle glamour for clients with sparse lashes who are limited in what they can obtain with a classic set. Because there are more individual lashes applied, they don’t leave a sparse look behind them at the end of the lash growth cycle. Volume sets typically lasts for a longer period than a classic set does.

How long does it take to apply them?

Plan on 120-150 minutes for classic sets and 150-180 minutes for volume sets. Depending on how many lashes needs to be reapplies, allow at least 120 minutes for fills. We ask you to plan extra time for removing any grown out lashes and lash baths to ensure the retention and life of your extensions.

Can I wear makeup with lash extensions?

Yes! Although we don’t recommend wearing waterproof/oil based mascara or oil based products; it will shorten the life of your lash extensions.

Will lash extensions damage my natural lashes?

No! When applied correctly, with proper isolation and weight, eyelash extensions will not harm your natural lashes.

Can I get my lash extensions remove?

We do offer a service to have the extensions removed involving a short thirty-minute appointment in which we apply a gel remover. The gel remover is applied on top of the extensions without touching the skin and allowed to sit for 10 minutes. Once the adhesive is dissolved the extensions are gently wiped away, exposing the natural lashes.

How do I care for my lash extensions?

This is crucial to get the best retention possible! Do not get the lashes wet for the first 24 hours including:

  • Steam

  • Tears

  • Showering

  • Swimming

  • Eye Makeup Remover

No oil based products or waterproof mascara.

Do not touch, play with, or pick at your lashes.

Do not use lash curler on them.

Cleaning your lashes daily with an oil free lash cleanser, which we have available for purchase, is a must; you need to remove natural oils that can break down the adhesive causing your extensions to come off prematurely. You may need to do this a couple of times if you are removing makeup. Dry lashes by pressing a towel gently onto the lashes, do not rub. Always try to touch your lashes only with the mascara wand, never your hands, in order to keep them free of oils. Clean your lashes after a heavy workout. Never use washcloths, towelettes, cotton pads or swabs. These will pull out and or get caught in your lashes and cause discomfort.

What should I do before my appointment?

Before your appointment, make sure that there is no eye makeup or excess product such as moisturiser around your eye area. The area should be as clean as possible.

If your go-to mascara is waterproof, you should avoid this a couple of days before your lash extensions. Otherwise, this may interfere with the application.

Furthermore, you shouldn’t come to the appointment wearing contact lenses as these cannot be in place during the treatment. This is because it will make it harder in the event that anything gets in your eye during the treatment.
